Ribbed tops and blouses
Ribbed tops and blouses made from the same cotton knit fabric we use for our ribbed dresses and skirts – soft, stretchy, and shape-retaining. Basic styles that you can wear on their own, under a blazer, sweater, or shirt, or as a set with a skirt made from the same material. The fitted cut accentuates the figure, and the vertical ribbing slims it.

Ribbed tops: what they are and why you should have them in your wardrobe
A ribbed top is a top sewn from a knitted fabric with a longitudinal weave, the same one used for our dresses: 95% cotton and 5% elastane, produced to order in a Polish knitting mill. The dense, elastic weave ensures that the top holds its shape, doesn't stretch at the neckline, and doesn't twist after washing, meaning it doesn't do what most thin ribbed tops from chain stores do.
On the upper body, the vertical ribbing works in three ways: it lengthens the torso, subtly narrows the waist optically, and streamlines the bust line. The elastic knit adapts to the body like a second skin, but thanks to the density of the weave, it smooths rather than accentuates. This is why a basic ribbed top is one of the most versatile wardrobe items; it looks good worn alone and under any layer.
Styles and sleeves, a top for every season
The collection is based on basic styles with various sleeve and neckline options, ensuring the ribbed top works all year round.
Strappy and sleeveless, a summer and layering option. In summer, wear it alone with jeans or a skirt; in colder months, under a blazer, shirt, or cardigan. Thin straps expose the shoulders and collarbones.
Short sleeve, the most versatile option. It works alone in spring and summer, and as a first layer in autumn. Short sleeves offer more character than straps and are better suited for work.
Long sleeve and turtleneck, the foundation of an autumn-winter wardrobe. A ribbed turtleneck under a blazer or sweater is a classic that never goes out of style. The long-sleeved cotton knit is warmer than thin synthetic turtlenecks and also breathable.
Lengths: classic length tops (to the hip line) work best with high-waisted skirts and trousers. Shorter styles emphasize the waist when paired with high-waisted bottoms.
Top vs. blouse: what's the difference?
The distinction is conventional, but a top is generally considered a simpler, fitted upper garment, often sleeveless or with short sleeves, that serves as a base for an outfit. A blouse usually has a looser fit, longer sleeves, or decorative elements, and more often functions as a standalone, main item in an ensemble. In ribbed knitwear, this line blurs: a fitted long-sleeved style can be both a basic top and an elegant blouse, depending on how you style it.
How a ribbed top shapes the upper body
The vertical lines of the ribbing guide the eye from top to bottom, making the torso appear longer and the waist narrower. The dense knit lies evenly on the bust, without stretching the weave or transparency that can occur with thin ribbing. For a fuller bust, this means comfort without a constricting effect; for a smaller bust, it gently adds structure.
A fitted ribbed top also acts as a tool for proportions: tucked into a high-waisted skirt or trousers, it accentuates the narrowest part of the silhouette and clearly defines the waist. This is the simplest way to create a proportionate outfit, regardless of body type.
Ribbed set: top and skirt in one fabric
The ribbed top from this collection forms a set with a ribbed skirtin the same color. Both items are sewn from identical knit fabric, so the color and texture are 100% consistent. A monochromatic set creates an uninterrupted vertical line from shoulders to the bottom of the skirt, optically elongating the entire silhouette more effectively than any single garment.
The set also works separately: wear the top with jeans, under a blazer, or with high-waisted trousers; wear the skirt with a sweater, shirt, or another top. Two pieces, a minimum of six outfits. This is a slow fashion approach that builds a capsule wardrobe instead of a closet full of individual, non-coordinating items.
How to style a ribbed top
For everyday: short-sleeved top + high-waisted jeans + sneakers. A basic that always works, ribbing adds structure even to the simplest ensemble.
For work: turtleneck or long-sleeved top in black, ecru, or coffee + blazer + tailored trousers or midi skirt. A ribbed top under a blazer lies smoothly and doesn't show through the jacket.
In autumn and winter: turtleneck as a first layer under a sweater, cardigan, or coat. Cotton knit breathes, so it doesn't overheat in heated interiors, an advantage over synthetic turtlenecks.
For an evening out: fitted strappy top + maxi skirt or high-waisted trousers + heels. Minimalism that looks expensive.
As a set: top + skirt made of the same knit fabricin one color. A ready-to-wear outfit for going out, which you can then separate into two independent wardrobe pieces.
Ribbed tops for various occasions
For everyday: soft cotton and an elastic cut make the top comfortable to wear from morning to evening, allowing free movement and requiring no adjustment.
For work and meetings: a fitted ribbed top under a blazer looks professional, and the top doesn't wrinkle during the day.
For autumn and winter: long-sleeved tops and turtlenecks made of cotton knit are the warmest options in the collection, ideal as a first layer.
For travel: ribbed knit fabric doesn't wrinkle, tops take up minimal space in a suitcase and are ready to wear immediately after unpacking.
How to choose the size of a ribbed top
For a top, bust circumference is key; measure it at the widest point and compare it with the size chart. The elastic knit fabric with 5% elastane covers several classic sizes in one and adapts to the silhouette without looking stretched.
If you're between sizes, for a fitted style, choose the larger size for a looser fit, or the smaller for a more accentuating fit. If in doubt, email contact@nudyess.live with your bust measurement in centimeters, or check the size chart.
How to care for ribbed tops
Wash inside out, at up to 30°C, on a delicate cycle, with a mild detergent. Avoid bleaches and strong spinning, as these are what most quickly destroy elastane and cause the neckline to lose its shape.
Do not tumble dry. Dry flat; a top dried on a hanger may stretch at the shoulders. Any pilling can be removed with a fabric shaver; this is a natural phenomenon with cotton knits and does not indicate a material defect.

FAQ, frequently asked questions about ribbed tops and blouses
Does a ribbed top accentuate the stomach?
Dense, elastic ribbing works the opposite way to thin knits, smoothing the stomach line instead of highlighting every imperfection. Additionally, the vertical lines of the weave optically lengthen the torso. If you prefer more room, choose one size up; the knit will maintain its structure, and the style will be less fitted.
Does a ribbed top stretch at the neckline?
Ours doesn't. This is the most common flaw in cheap ribbed tops, which we avoid thanks to the dense weave produced to our order in a Polish knitting mill. 5% elastane ensures the material returns to its shape. Condition: wash at 30°C and dry flat.
What to wear a ribbed top with?
With jeans or high-waisted trousers for everyday, under a blazer for work, with a midi or maxi skirt for an evening out. The strongest ensemble is a set: a top and a ribbed skirt in the same color.
Is a ribbed turtleneck suitable for wearing under a blazer and sweater?
Yes, that's one of its main uses. A fitted ribbed turtleneck lies smoothly under layers and doesn't show through the fabric. Cotton knit breathes, so it doesn't overheat in heated interiors, unlike synthetic turtlenecks.
What is the difference between a top and a blouse?
A top is usually a simpler, fitted style that serves as a base for an outfit, while a blouse is a looser or more decorative main element. In ribbed knitwear, the line blurs: the same style works as a basic top under a blazer and as a standalone blouse.
How to choose the size of a top?
Measure your bust circumference at its widest point and compare it with the size chart. If in doubt: a larger size will give more room, a smaller size will accentuate the figure more. If you have any questions, write to contact@nudyess.live with your bust measurement in centimeters.
Are ribbed tops suitable for winter?
Yes, long-sleeved and turtleneck variants are an ideal first layer under a sweater, cardigan, or coat. Cotton knit keeps you warm and is breathable, so it works well both outdoors and in heated interiors.
How to wash a ribbed top so it doesn't lose its shape?
Inside out, at 30°C, on a delicate cycle, without bleach and strong spinning. Dry flat, not on a hanger and not in a tumble dryer, as high temperatures damage the elastane responsible for the knit's elasticity.
